About me Infant Sleep Specialist & Doula in Berlin

Hi, I’m Keatyn! I’m passionate about supporting families through the transformative journey of parenthood. As a dedicated birth and postpartum doula, as well as an infant sleep specialist, I help parents feel confident, cared for, and empowered at every step.

From Small-Town Minnesota to to Supporting Families in Berlin

I grew up on a hobby farm in a small Minnesota town, with a couple brothers and lots of animals. Being the second oldest kid in my extended family, I got to watch lots of cousins join the gang, and this is where my love of babies began.

I started babysitting at age 11, and then became an au pair in North Carolina after high school. I spent a few years studying hospitality and event planning in San Diego, after which I worked and lived on a luxury yacht in the Caribbean (à la Bravo’s “Below Deck”). My love of babies and working with families drew me back in 2014 when I took another opportunity to au pair, this time in a small village in northern Germany.

The move to Germany was only supposed to last a year, but then I met my now husband 💛

My parents loved the name „Keaytn“ and, according to family lore, they would have also named me “Keaton” if I was born a boy. It is pronounced “key-ten,” like the last name of famous actors Buster, Diane, or Michael.

Where Birth & Beyond Berlin Began

We spent 2017 in San Francisco, where I completed my birth and postpartum doula certification. At the end of that year, we decided to move back to Berlin so I could start my doula practice.

This is when Birth & Beyond Berlin was born.

I knew there were international and English-speaking families looking for more support when having a baby in Berlin. They wanted help understanding not only their upcoming birth and postpartum journey, but also navigating it in an entirely new perinatal healthcare system, in a foreign language.

They wanted space to be heard and listened to. They wanted to be empowered to listen to their intuition and parent their own unique way. They wanted to be held—physically and emotionally—during this transition.

And if you found me, that’s probably exact what you are looking for too.

I support families of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and constellations

I lean on my trainings & years of experience, trust my own intuition, as well as my clients’, learn from others while forging my own path, and meet each parent where they are.

To witness, empower, and walk beside them on their journey into birth & beyond.

What Families Say About My Support

When the contractions have subsided, the baby is earth-side, and the birthing person looks up at me and says, “I couldn’t have done that without you,” I know they’re wrong — they’re the one who did it all.

That said, having a companion, cheerleader, and a heart believing in the strength of the birthing body makes all the difference. Continuous support helps unlock the courage and strength within.
