Frequently Asked Questions
what is the difference between a solo doula and a doula team?
Solo doulas work individually with their clients. Doula partners work together to care for their clients, sharing the load and being a wider net of support for each family.
why hire a doula team?
Simply put, you get two doulas for the price of one!
Having a team means that your doula is well rested and fresh. Being on-call 24/7 for weeks or months at a time can be exhausting, but since we share the load, we have more energy to give back to our clients.
Working with us as doula partners also ensures you have more continuity of care. When hiring a solo doula there is a much higher chance you will be supported by a back-up that you haven’t had much time getting to know. Now with a team, you spend equal amounts of time with both of us during the prenatals, and the likelihood you will have one of us at your birth (and not our additional back-up) is much more likely.
why did you two decide to team up?
As solo doulas we were already each other’s preferred back-ups, so we decided to make it official!
We also often found ourselves interviewing with the same potential clients, and them having to pick between us. Now you no longer need to make that tough decision and you can work with us both!
We’ve collaborated together a lot over the years and built a working relationship on trust, empathy, and a lot of laughs, so it just felt right to take the next step.
how many prenatal metings do you offer?
We do 2 in-home prenatals with our clients.
We want to make sure we have plenty of time to get to know you, your journey and your preferences, as well as share lots of resources and information. So in addition to our prenatals, you can also join our bi-weekly virtual office hours, called the Nesting Nook.
We both attend the first prenatal meetings.
where are the prenatal meetings held?
In the comfort of your home! If you are sick or away for an extended period of time, they can also be conducted virtually.
can i be in touch with you between prenatals?
Absolutely!
As our client, you have access to us via text, email, phone calls during normal “office hours.”
You also have access to hang out with us a couple times a month at our virtual Nesting Nook.
From 38 weeks we are available to you 24/7 until baby is born.
what are the cons of hiring a doula team?
Hmmm, can’t really think of any!
do you both speak german?
Ja!
Both of us can speak and understand German. We are happy to be a bridge between you and the medical staff if there are any communication issues.
Happy Families
Keatyn was such a huge help to us both pre- and postpartum. Even though we had a midwife as well Keatyn’s help was absolutely indispensable. She helped us a lot getting ready for the birth and it was great to see her only hours after bringing home our first Baby. She made us feel really confident at home during a time that can be really overwhelming and intimidating. And even now that her postpartum care with us is finished we are still benefiting so much from the ways in which she helped us to get organized and set up with our little one. We will definitely miss her and would absolutely hire her again!
We highly appreciate for Keatyn’s big help. Without her empowering presence, it would have been mission impossible to manage my postpartum time. We’re foreigners without family’s support and our son is our first baby. Keatyn helped our difficult time with patience, compassion and deep knowledge. Thank you Keatyn! Our son still misses you!
Keatyn was a crucial team member on our journey from pregnancy to birth. We met several times before birth and she accompanied us on the grand day. Thanks to our meetings and her amazing resources, I felt confident and knew what to expect. Even when things turned a scary corner, having her by mine and my husband’s side kept me feeling in control and peaceful. Her support meant the world to us and she will always have a special place in our hearts. I’d recommend her services without hesitation!
Working with Jes and Keatyn took the guesswork out of our birth experience. As nervous first time parents and Ausländer in Berlin, with immediate family many thousands of kilometres away, Jes and Keatyn’s prenatal support was invaluable to us. Their insights into the journey of pregnancy and birth as well as the specifics of the system here in Berlin filled in many practical gaps for us. We also had peace of mind knowing that we wouldn’t be navigating the birth alone. Their dynamic as a pair is great with each offering unique but cohesive perspectives. If you are looking for warm, empathetic and practical support delivered with care and good humour then I can’t recommend these doulas enough.
Keatyn was our family’s guardian angel during prenatal and postpartum care. Her classes really prepared us for parenting, we felt ready with her teachings and during those tough postpartum weeks her help really made a positive impact to my family, I can’t thank her enough,
I would love to hear from you!
